Thurman’s Bike & Sport has been serving southeast Nebraska for over twenty eight years. Started in April of 1981 on the downtown streets of Nebraska City, the store opened selling only Schwinn bicycles and Nike shoes. Back then it was affectionately known as “Bike and Nike.” Several years later the addition of more sporting goods and embroidery and engraving services forced a move to a larger building.

Thurman’s Bike & Sport continued to grow adding more services, sporting goods and exercise equipment. Customers were coming from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. Soon, 3000 square feet was too small and a small gas station was leveled making way for a new 6600 square foot building with 22 foot high vaulted Ceilings.

This new building opened May 15th 2009. Careful attention was put into the construction of the new building to make it as environmentally and energy efficient as possible. From the wall and floor thickness to the geothermal heat pumps and rain water barrel containment. Every opportunity to conserve energy or recycle past materials was used.

Thank you for visiting our site and we look forward to meeting you in person.

Sincerely,

Jim Thurman
