Road & Gravel

On this page you will find just a few of the many road, cross, triathlon and gravel bikes that Specialized offers.  If you click on the picture it will take you directly to that model ling on the Specialized website.  To look at all of the Specialized road bikes click here: ROAD BIKES

Road bikes have been a large part of the cycling scene for years.  Now with improved geometry that provides a better fit and safer ride, road bikes are making a strong surge again in sales.  New in recent years are the new line of road type bikes called “Gravel Bikes.”  These bikes have a relaxed frame geometry, longer wheelbase and accept a wider tire enabling the rider to ride roads, trails and gravel roads.  Our fastest growing line of bikes last year was the new Specialized Diverge gravel bikes.

ALLEZ SPORT 2018

Not only does a light bike feel better when you’re climbing up a hill, but it’s also essential when you’re carrying your bike up to the 5th floor, and this was at the forefront of the frame design. With a redesigned E5 Alloy frame, the Allez features a class-leading weight. Aggressively thin-walled, yet tough, tubes have been implemented to save weight, as well, resulting in over a 450g (1lb) reduction in the frame and fork alone when compared to models of yesteryear.

Speaking of the fork, entry-level road bikes often times feature either alloy or cheap carbon fiber forks that greatly detract from the overall ride quality. But with a full FACT carbon fiber fork, the Allez is better handling, smoother riding, and lower in weight—floating over rough chip-seal and carving through corners like a slalom skier. For the geometry, we developed the Allez by utilizing our vast Retül fit database. This meant creating a geometry that’s sure to cover a broad range of positions, while still providing the performance-minded handling you’d expect from your first bike.

This Allez also features integrated rack and fender mounts, allowing you to get weight out of your backpack and on to a lightweight rack when you need it. This not only makes for a good road bike, but it also enables you to transform it into a fast commuter. Along these lines, you’ll find plenty of clearance for 28mm tires, so longer rides become far more bearable and city streets much smoother.

With Shimano Sora components, Axis Sport wheels, and a stiff Praxis Alba 2d crankset, the Allez Sport is not only your perfect first road bike, but one that you’ll be able to ride for years to come.

  • E5 Premium Aluminum frame features fully manipulated tubing with smooth welds that increase stiffness and efficiency, while looking just as good as it performs.
  • Specialized FACT carbon, full monocoque fork designed for high-speed handling.
  • Shimano Sora STI shifters are reliable, and worry free—making sure to keep you riding without hassle of maintenance.

For the spec, we selected components that deliver surefooted performance, like durable DT R460 wheels, crisp Shimano 105 shifting, and a bevy of Body Geometry components that maximize performance by providing the utmost in comfort.

  • The FACT 9r carbon frame combines the lightweight performance and compliance of our top-end carbon production methods with a Grand-Tour-winning geometry that begs for you to go faster.
  • FACT carbon fork with a tapered construction provides incredible front end stiffness and steering response for instantaneous accelerations and high-speed descents.
  • Significantly lighter than comparable wheelsets in its class, these tough DT R460 wheels offer tremendous value in one smooth-rolling package.

ROUBAIX 2018

The light weight frame has been constructed from our FACT 9r carbon fiber. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you’ll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some engineering sorcery, however, we’ve managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we’ve all come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range due to our Rider-First Engineered™ construction.

Of course, you’re probably thinking, “get on to the suspension thing up front.” We call it Future Shock, and essentially, it’s a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. We developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, we found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that we could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that we’ve tested with our Rolling Efficiency Model, the new Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.

Lastly, the Roubaix comes equipped with hassle-free mechanical disc brakes that’ll see you spending more time riding and zero time bleeding your brakes, a Shimano Tiagra drivetrain, and Axis Sport Disc wheels, ensuring that you’ll keep rolling without trouble, mile after mile.

  • The FACT 9r carbon frame has all of the road absorbing, engineered compliance that you’d expect from a bike born on the cobbles, yet its compact endurance race design provides all of the responsiveness and performance you need for long days in the saddle.
  • FACT carbon fork is optimized for stiffness and responsive steering.
  • Shimano Tiagra shifting ensures reliable access to a wide range of gears.

DIVERGE E5 2018

The Diverge E5 is equipped with everything you need to head to work, take the long way home, and hit some fire roads on the weekend.

With a completely redesigned frame, the new Diverge is more capable than ever. And with the constant goal to best meet your needs, we took your number one request into account—tire clearance. The new frame will comfortably fit up to 700x38mm tires with plenty of room for mud, too. Along with tire clearance, weight was a large factor in the development, and taking some design cues from the development of the Roubaix, we developed an E5 Premium Aluminum frame that’s plenty light, certainly stiff for hard efforts, and undeniable durable.

Next up, we moved away from a traditional ‘cross geometry, instead opting for something that hasn’t been seen before—Open Road Geometry. We know what you’re thinking, “it’s just another marketing term,” but for the Diverge, we truly did develop an entirely new geometry. With a touch less hyperbole, you can think of it as a road version of modern trail bike geometry. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts. The geo features a bottom bracket that’s over a half-centimeter lower than the previous Diverge, a slacked-out head tube angle, short chainstays, and a short wheelbase. These changes make for a bike that’s not only fun in the dirt, but also performs well on the road.

And while riding gravel and dirt roads on a road bike may add to the adventure, there’s only so much that wider tires with lower pressures can absorb, in terms of bumps. With this in mind, we implemented a new version of our Future Shock into the Diverge design. It not only soaks up bumps with ease, but also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. That’s because the wheelbase isn’t lengthening when you hit a bump, so the front end of the Diverge keeps the same effective head tube angle. In other words, when you dive hard into a turn, you won’t be surprised by under steer or sloppy handling. Unlike the original Future Shock, the Diverge’s version features a progressive spring that makes this technology more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles.

To add to its multifaceted talents, we topped this Diverge off with three water bottle mounts, plus mounts for racks and fenders, so it’s equally adept at long trips as it is to short rides to the local brewery. The Diverge E5 Elite frame is topped off with Shimano Claris shifting, hassle-free mechanical disc brakes, and ultra-strong Axis Sport Disc wheels that are cased in fast-rolling Espoir Sport tires.

  • Our Premium E5 aluminum frameset features our comfortable, yet confidence-inspiring, Open Road Geometry. Front & rear thru-axles are also included, making this Diverge the ultimate tool for your next adventure.
  • The lightweight FACT carbon fork is plenty stiff, aiding in handling, rigidity, and an overall light weight.
  • The Shimano RS200, with 46/34T gearing, provides precise shifts between rings, and makes it easier to spin up those leg-burning climbs.

SHIV SPORT 2018

The Shiv Sport was designed with one goal in mind—making you faster over the bike leg of your race, without setting you back six month’s rent. So whether you’re looking to go after your first triathlon or set a new PR, you can ride with confidence that it’s up to the task.

Its full FACT 10r carbon frame was developed in our very own Win Tunnel, and it’s not only been aerodynamically optimized for straight-line speed, but it also features airfoils that have been optimized to limit side force in crosswinds. A bike can only be as fast as its rider, though, which is why we also developed the Control Tower fit system that let’s you optimize your stack and reach numbers in order to find your most comfortable, powerful position for your desired length.

Next up comes the Fuelselage Hydration System that houses a water-bladder inside of the frame, making it virtually invisible to the wind. And to go along with your water, the Fuelcell fits plenty of food and even has room for a flat kit. The best part of the Fuelselage and Fuelcell combination is that, when packed correctly, it cleans up the frame and saves up to 75 seconds when compared to a taped-up system.

Finally, the Shiv Sport is built up with a mix of Shimano and microSHIFT components, and it’s been topped off with durable, smooth-rolling DT R460 wheels.

  • The FACT 10r carbon frame is lightweight and extremely responsive. It features crosswind-optimized airfoils for enhanced aerodynamic performance, while the Control Tower Fit System and Fuelselage Integrated Hydration System provide versatile fit options and nutrition integration.
  • FACT Aero carbon fork utilizes our most advanced carbon construction methods to provide precise steering and rider input, while also improving overall aerodynamics.
  • Significantly lighter than comparable wheelsets in its class, these tough Axis Elite wheels offer tremendous value in one smooth-rolling package.
